Pear Buddies

Pearbear Loves Pears. He Eats One Every Day, Sometimes Two!

In fact, PearBear likes all kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables. Ask your parents to read the PearBear Chronicles to you. You'll learn all about PearBear and his forest and orchard friends. Or, if you're learning how to read, try reading about PearBear's adventures yourself. Reading is fun, and when you are finished, you can download a coloring sheet and color PearBear!

The Parts of the Pear
Can you name all the parts of a pear? Click on this pear picture to see the names of all the parts, inside and outside of a pear. Then, ask an adult to slice a ripe pear for you, so you can name all of the parts yourself.

Eating different types of foods is healthy. It's called eating a "balanced diet". It's good to eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables every day. The food pyramid guide shows different types of foods.

There are many different types of pears, and PearBear likes them all. Here are some of the different types of pears:

Anjou pears are light green. They stay green even when ripe, and they are very juicy and sweet. Some Anjous are red. Download a coloring sheet and color an Anjou Pear. [Requires Acrobat]
Bartlett pears are yellow or red. They are picked in late summer. Bartletts are a very healthy fruit to eat. All pears have vitamin C, and that's good for you. Download a coloring sheet and color a Bartlett Pear. [Requires Acrobat]
Bosc pears are golden brown. They have long stems and a long neck. All pears have lots of nutritious fiber in them. They are good for you. Download a coloring sheet and color a Bosc Pear. [Requires Acrobat]
